Our registered psychologists provide assessment services to help clarify learning, attention, developmental, and mental health concerns and provide practical recommendations for next steps.

Types of Assessments Offered

ADHD Assessments

Whether you or your child struggles with concentration, organization, impulsivity, or restlessness, an ADHD assessment can help clarify what may be contributing to those difficulties. We take a comprehensive look at attention and related areas of functioning to determine whether ADHD may be part of the picture, while considering other factors that can cause similar concerns. Our goal is to provide clear answers and practical recommendations for everyday life at home, school, or work.

Psychoeducational Assessments

A psychoeducational assessment helps clarify how you or your child learns, including areas of cognitive and academic strength as well asareas where additional support may be needed. Assessment can help identify learning difficulties and better understand factors affectingprogress at school or in other learning environments. Findings are used to provide practical, individualized recommendations for learning, accommodations, and next steps.

Mental Health Assessments

Mental health symptoms do not always fit neatly into one diagnosis. A comprehensive psychological assessment can help clarify what may be contributing to emotional, behavioural, or psychological concerns. We assess presenting symptoms, relevant history, and patterns of functioning to provide diagnostic clarification and practical recommendations for treatment and next steps.

Parenting Capacity Assessments

MindScape Psychology provides comprehensive parenting capacity assessments to clarify a caregiver’s strengths, needs, and capacity to meet a child’s developmental, emotional, and safety needs. Assessments may include clinical interviews, psychological testing, review of relevant records, collateral information, and other sources appropriate to the referral question. Findings are integrated into a comprehensive report with clear, practical recommendations.

Parenting capacity assessments are typically completed following referral from Children and Family Services or another authorized referral source.

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) Assessments

MindScape Psychology provides psychological assessments for Veterans when diagnostic clarification is needed regarding mental health concerns and treatment recommendations. Our psychologists provide comprehensive evaluation and practical recommendations to help guide next steps in care. VAC-funded psychological assessments require authorization before services begin.

Understanding the Cost of Assessment

Psychological assessments involve more than the time spent completing testing. The assessment process may include clinical interviews, review of relevant records, test administration and scoring, interpretation of results, report preparation, and a feedback session.

The total cost varies depending on the type of assessment, the referral question, and the amount of professional time required. Before assessment begins, we provide an estimated fee based on the anticipated scope of the assessment so you know what to expect.

Professional Fees

MindScape’s Registered Psychologists currently bill psychological services at $235 per hour, consistent with the 2026 recommended fee of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. Assessment estimates reflect the professional services expected to be required for the specific assessment.

How Assessment Billing Works

50% at the Intake Session

50% of the estimated assessment fee is due before assessment services begin. This covers the initial stages of the assessment process, including intake, record review, test selection and administration, scoring, and preliminary analysis.

50% Before Debrief & Final Report

The remaining 50% is due before the feedback session and release of the final report. This covers interpretation, report writing, feedback, and report delivery.

Insurance and Assessment Receipts

Many extended health benefit plans provide coverage for psychological services; however, coverage for psychological assessment varies considerably between plans. We recommend confirming your assessment coverage and reimbursement requirements with your insurance provider before booking.

MINDSCAPE DOES NOT DIRECT BILL INSURANCE PROVIDERS FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT. Assessment fees are paid to MindScape according to the payment schedule above, and receipts may then be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement where eligible.

Receipts can only be issued for professional services that have been completed. A final receipt reflecting the total assessment fees paid is available once the assessment process is complete and the outstanding balance has been paid.

Before Booking, Check With Your Insurer:

  • What is my annual maximum for psychological services?

  • Do I need a physician referral or prior authorisation?
  • What documentation will I need to submit for reimbursement?
